Hurricane Dora / Tropical Storm Dora Eastern Pacific 2005

Information on Tropical Storm Dora or Hurricane Dora 2005.

11:30PM 05/07 - This is the final update on TD Dora, no further information will be posted until historical data is available

05/07/05 11PM MDT  - Dora has degenerated into a tropical depression. The Mexican Government has discontinued all storm warnings for the southwestern coast of Mexico. Tropical Storm Dora is currently located near 18.6N 106.3W or about 85 miles WSW of Manzanillo and moving 280° at 10kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1009Mb, winds are estimated at 30kts.

Tropical Depression 4E formed on 03/07 south of Acapulco, Mexico. Dora became the fourth named storm of the 2005 Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season on 04/07, at 2:30PM. But Dora was doomed from the start, forming in waters of less than 28°C and moved quickly (as fast as 11kts) west into cooler waters. Convection within the storm continued to decrease on 05/07 and at 2:45PM Dora was downgraded to a tropical depression.

The five day forecast puts the storm well south of Baja California, passing directly over the Socorro Islands and out into the Pacific Ocean. The storm may provide increased humidity, and possibly, some associated rain near the end of the week.
