Massage Therapy in Cabo San Lucas now has a new addition with the Pura
Vida Spa. This Spa is truly a great addition to Los Cabos region. For
while there are plenty of Spas located in the resort hotels, there are not
really that many good options in Cabo, for those that actually live here
locally in the Los Cabos area and are in real need of truly therapeutic
massage and or holistic treatments.
Pura Vida , has just opened along the highway (Los Cabos
corridor), on the seaside frontage road just before the Costco exit next
to the Jardin Santa Fe (nursery).
Chris
Vincent, last from Glenwood Springs, and his wife Betty from Mexico City
have just opened the Pura Vida spa offering not only traditional relaxing
stress release massage but much more along the real therapeutic massage
used for rehabilitation and general physical therapy.
Betty lived in the states with Chris for the last 3 years
before coming hear to open their spa. They had met while Chris was down
here before working at one of the resorts. She is a certified massage
therapist from Colorado and now has certification in Mexico as well.

The arthritis I have had for the last 10 years has given
me the opportunity to try many different therapies and therapist and
personally I believe I have really found a place that can help me heal
myself at Pura Vida. While I have not had the pleasure of a therapy with
Betty or any of his other therapist, if he has trained them, my guess is
they are really good. It is not only the place but the people that matter
the most. There are therapists and there are healers. Healers listen and
guide you to you heal yourself whether they are trained in alternative or
western medicine. Those that take the time and truly have the intention of
helping, I believe you will benefit the most from.

Chris is not only trained in many techniques, but teaches them as well.
With over 500 hours for state of Colorado certification and Mexican
certification as well as many other alternative teachings. He is very well
trained and experienced.

Gua Sha, a scraping, stimulates and draws toxins from sore muscles |
Pura Vida therapist use many modalities such as Swedish
massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Chinese cupping (use of suction cups) and
Gua Sha where they use a blade made of bone with a scraping action on the
skin with oil, both of which helps energize the Chi (Chinese term for
energy that flows through the body) and helps loosen up connective tissues
and break up toxins. The only slight drawback with cupping is that you
fact, look like a giant squid had hold of you, the treatment is painless
and really seemed to help my circulation.
Tom my co-conspirator on
www.bajainsider.com experienced the Gua Sha which is really amazing
to see how the blood rushes to the skin. Stretching out the muscles and
bringing circulation to the skin. Chris explained how it effectively
breaks down the “gristle” in your muscles. There can be a little pain
associated with this but as Tom said” it is one of those good pains”. By
no means do you have to endure anything you don’t want to and of course if
you are just looking for a stress releasing relaxing massage anyone of the
staff can provide this.

Chris working with the
Morf-Am Massager |
Tom also had the pleasure of using the Morf Am vibrating
massage which looks very similar to a vibrating orbital polisher for cars.
Chris used this on Tom to loosen him up for a much deeper massage as Tom
had been experiencing serious back muscle pain.
Chris is also a strong believer in hot and cold therapies
having learned some of the Native American sweat lodge techniques for the
excretion of toxins. As Chris explained we breathe more through our skin
than our lungs and so keeping those pores open is essential to good
health.
Pura Vida also uses a few other tools such as a Quantum
light ray that really helps generate some heat to those areas that need
it. I myself have severe rheumatoid arthritis and found this to be very
helpful and soothing.

Chinese Cupping draws the toxins from the system |
Pura Vida has people that care and an intention to help anyone who asks. I
was very pleased with the very personal approach they use taking the time
to talk and most importantly listen.
Pura Vida is a boutique spa that has several rooms for
massage and another for teaching yoga. They also have the use of a very
large Palapa right across the parking lot for much larger classes when
needed. Yoga classes are presently on Monday, Wednesday and Friday you may
also arrange private classes just use the contact or call them directly at
044-624-114-6425.

Quantum Light Therapy |
The spa itself offers a wonderful healing and relaxing
feeling. Chris and Betty have many plans to expand and grow their business
and they have the location to do so. His pricing is very reasonable and he
and his staff are available for out calls to your home or hotel (if
allowed, some resorts restrict you to only using there spas).
In any case I as you can tell I highly recommend the
experience whether you are, looking for a relaxing stress releasing or a
deep tissue massage or physio-therapy the Pura Vida Spa should definitely
be on your list of things to do while living or visiting here in Los
Cabos.
